A Projective Tool For Working With Kids
Children often lack the verbal skills or emotional vocabulary to communicate in a therapeutic setting. In addition, children may be uncomfortable with direct verbal disclosure of significant events and experiences.
This resource was designed to give professionals an unique tool to use when working with young people from ages 6-15. The projective type exercises are not intended to be used for diagnostic purposes, but rather as a means to build therapeutic rapport and facilitate discussion.
Cartoon-like images present representations of situations that young people may encounter in their daily lives. Most of these scenarios have cultural and/or gender options. The child or adolescent is asked to fill in the blank "thought bubbles" with whatever comes to mind.
