Common Ties Game

Living Together In a Multicultural World

Common Ties is a game to promote socialization in a multicultural world. It helps newcomers to a country learn about the traditions, attitudes and values of their new culture without losing their identities or respect for their original cultures. It also helps native-born children understand cultures different from their own.

Game cards address such topics as:
  • Friendship
  • Emotions
  • Customs
  • Responsibilities
  • Family Traditions
In addition, blank cards are included so that you can create questions relevant to your particular group. The game also introduces a bit of geography and stimulates discussion about other cultures. Each player is given a 'passport' and then travels around the colorful game board, visiting seven parts of the world and answering questions on the game cards. Appropriate answers are rewarded with tokens that players insert in their passports.
